Metrics

Per-shift & game metrics, in plain language

Every metric has an in-app explainer — you never stare at a number you can't interpret.

Ice time vs bench time

On-ice basis — the hockey, not the minutes between periods. See how much you actually played, shift by shift and per game.

Shift count & durations

How many shifts, how long each one ran, and the shape of your game.

Average & max heart rate per shift

What your body was doing on each shift, compared to your own working ceiling.

Shift Intensity

How hard a shift was relative to your own range — not a made-up score, but where your heart rate sat against your personal zones.

Effort Level

A plain-language read on how much you gave on the shift, with an in-app explainer.

Rest efficiency & recovery

How well you recovered between shifts — the heart-rate drop on the bench, in the context of your own recovery.

Speed Index — pace without the fake km/h

No GPS indoors, so we never pretend to measure km/h. Instead the watch reads every stride: cadence (strides per minute) × stride power (the force behind each push, from the accelerometer) — that's your Speed Index. It's shown as % of your all-time best, so the number climbs as you improve and your high-water mark moves with you. Games need to be recorded on the watch to get motion data.

Agility — turns & sharpness

Every turn is measured and classified: wide (< 45°), medium (45–240°), or sharp (> 240°). See your turns per minute and your sharp share — how many of your turns are high-angle — and track whether you're getting quicker on your edges, game over game. From watch motion data.

Active % per shift

The share of each shift actually spent working — strides producing movement — versus gliding or standing still. Shown per shift and as a game average, it separates being on the ice from actually working. From watch motion data.

Trends & history

Your season in one place: ice time, intensity, and recovery over time. Unlimited history.

Goals, notes & titles

Name your sessions, add notes and goals, review and crop any game.

On-ice, not just total

Most trackers report work:rest from the whole session. We compute it on-ice: duty cycle, ice time percentage, and rest efficiency all measure the hockey, not the minutes on the bench between periods. We believe we're the only app in the category that separates these.

Why don't you show my top speed or distance?
Because a wrist can't measure those honestly, and we won't show a number we can't defend. GPS dies inside a rink, so you'll never see a km/h reading from us. What you do get is speed we can stand behind: your Speed Index — % of your own best, read from the watch's motion sensors. You only ever see what we're confident we know.

Common questions

The answers players actually ask about automatic shift tracking.

What if a session isn't hockey?
It's never silently tagged or exported. Short or uncertain sessions become review cards you can confirm, delete, or adjust — with a plain explanation of why it was flagged.
Does it export to Health Connect?
Committed hockey sessions export with their full heart-rate series — once, cleanly, idempotently. Nothing else.

Why it matters

A metric is only useful if you can act on it. Ice time tells you whether you're actually getting minutes; rest efficiency tells you whether your bench time is paying off; intensity and effort tell you how you're spending your shifts. We keep every one on-ice and explainable.
