What are we even doing here?

The honest pitch for Over The Boards, stripped of the app-store polish.

Every other sport hands you your numbers. Run, and you get pace and distance. Ride, and you get watts. Hockey? You get the score, the goal you maybe scored, and a vague feeling about the game. You have no idea how much you actually played, how many shifts you took, or whether any of it is getting better.

That's the thing we built.

The foundation

Yes, Over The Boards tracks your shifts. Your smartwatch measures your heart and motion, and after the game you see your stat line — shifts, actual ice time, speed, and how your heart recovers on the bench. That part's the foundation, and honestly it should be taken for granted. A watch that measures things isn't the interesting part.

The interesting part

The interesting part is what happens next. Game after game, the numbers stack up. And then you notice things. Your bench recovery time dropping week to week. Your speed index inching toward your best. Your stamina holding into the third instead of fading.

That's the whole point. Shift tracking is the tool. Improvement is the product.

It happened to me first

Over a few weeks I watched my bench recovery climb — my heart settling faster between shifts — and realized the app had stopped being a tracker and started being a mirror. A way to see what I did, and beat it next time.

So that's what we're doing here. Not a step counter with a hockey skin. The first real look a hockey player's ever had at their own game — and a little better every time you step over the boards.

The honest version: shift tracking is the tool, improvement is the product. Everything else is just numbers.
